Ytterby Substation
DC, AC conversion station was built in order to connect the Aland Islands and Finland with an underwater cable and to increase the stability of the power supply. The new station allowed for the closure of the outdated thermal power station. Within this project LEC carried out assembly of high voltage equipment, primary connections, relay protection and automation systems as well as assembly of the converter’s cooling system, and built the network of control cables and power network.
In Latvia there are no such stations that convert 80 kV DC voltage to 110 kV AC voltage, so this project allowed the LEC employees to gain new, valuable experience of equipment installation and to prove their professionalism – the client gave positive feedback on the quality of the construction.
